"God Bless You
Coach John Gales,
You were a great man in every way possible.
You were a great husband, father, Coach, basketball champion, teacher, mentor, a good friend and so much more. You were a joy to know and to be around for leadership and counseling.I am a friend to your family and your Sister, Elois Criss (Gales), were high school classmates.
Coach Gales was a very special person in my children's lives, especially my daughter Anita Calton (Coach Gales preferred to her as Miss Thang). He was her 9th grade English teacher and she always remembered "F TROOP" ...
He was my son's basketball coach (Donald Calton). My son Arthur Calton (AC) and daughter Cynthia Calton just loved him because of who he was.
EVERYBODY LOVES COACH GALES ...
You will certainly be missed by many.
You were one in a million in your home life, in the classroom, playing basketball, coaching and being a champion as you have always been.
God Bless You COACH GALES!
We will always remember you and love you 4EVER."

I am thankful for the doors Coach Gales opened by fighting for his dreams that have allowed other young black men to follow their dreams and goals. ~ Craig Clark
To a great grandad, human and living legacy that showed me it's possible to be black, educated, and make a real difference in the lives of those around you for generations to come!
